Curriculum

The AISM Curriculum is a four-year program consisting of two years of basic science studies, (core courses plus organ system interrelationships) and 78 weeks of clinical rotations. All basic science courses will be taught in a coordinated manner. Frequent seminars, demonstrations and conferences on clinically related problems and issues, will be scheduled throughout the year. Upon completion of the basic- science years, students will be eligible for a Masters of Science (MS) degree in Medical Sciences, after successfully defending a research thesis, and passing a comprehensive examination. The subsequent two years of clinical work leads to the completion of the MD degree.

Facilities

The American International School of Medicine has its main campus, OCEANVIEW CAMPUS, Georgetown, Guyana, South America; with satellite centers in the United Kingdom and clinical training sites in the United States, Trinidad, England, Canada, and Guyana. Our students participate in clinical rotations at hospitals in Guyana, UK, Trinidad, West Indies and the United States among other countries. Together, these facilities are geared to provide our students with the opportunity to learn and become involved with the most comprehensive health care facilities available in the world.

About the LizzyM Score

LizzyM, SDN Moderator and medical school admissions committee member, is the inventor of the LizzyM Score. The score allows you to see if you are a competitive applicant at a given school. If your LizzyM Score is far below or above the average, you may not be a good fit. If your score is far below, your application may be screened out due to numerical cutoffs. If it is far above, the school may assume they are your “safety” school and that you won’t attend if they offer an acceptance. This score should be used only as a guide to help you select schools and is not a guarantee of acceptance at any school. If you use this as your sole criteria to select medical schools to apply to, you don’t deserve to get in anyway.
