What is one of the specific questions they asked you (question 1)?

"Why UIWSOM?" More from this Member | Report Response

"Mrs. Jones is your patient who has Hep C. You enroll in her in the clinical study you're in charge of, which is funded by a multi-million dollar pharmaceutical company. The study tests the only known medication that has worked in initial studies for Hep C. However, as you continue your study, initial results show that little improvement in Mrs. Jones' condition. The pharmaceutical company asks you to remove Mrs. Jones from this study and any subsequent studies having to do with this medication. Discuss." More from this Member | Report Response

"MMI style questions" More from this Member | Report Response

"Confidentiality is important of patient care when it comes to providers. Give an example when you had to maintain confidentiality, how and why you did so. Also, use this time to explain how it affects care." More from this Member | Report Response

"You are a physician in a city with first, second, and third generation immigrants and a big problem with diabetes. These immigrants are known to use alternative medicines to cure their ailments. Your goal is to write a public health paper on dealing with diabetes in your city, but how would you deal with bringing modern medicine in a city where alternative medicine has been accepted for generations?" More from this Member | Report Response

"Trauma, stress, and discrimination are part of life experiences. Please explain how you have coped with these types of situations and how you plan to continue these methods through your medical education." More from this Member | Report Response

What impressed you positively?

"The whole environment. The students seemed genuinely happy and the faculty are really invested in making sure that their students succeed." More from this Member | Report Response

"The people there were all very friendly and seemed happy to be there." More from this Member | Report Response

"The school puts an emphasis on taking care of mental health! They have quirky ways to make you active while you're studying too. Really nice apartments right next to school with Walmart & HEB across the street! Access to Anatomy Lab all throughout pre-clinical years!" More from this Member | Report Response

"The students seem happy and the curriculum is amazing with tons of independent and group work." More from this Member | Report Response

"The faculty was very experienced and friendly. The facilities and equipment were all new. The current students were helpful." More from this Member | Report Response

What impressed you negatively?

"Mandatory lecture/professional dress" More from this Member | Report Response

"It was cold" More from this Member | Report Response

What are your general comments?

"The interview is nothing to stress over. Even when they bring up something you don't know about, do your best to talk through it. I didn't leave feeling impressed with the school, but their students are apparently doing very well during their clinical rotations. It also didn't seem like the students were able to speak to many things confidently - for example, they mentioned rumors that the school would be moved to the main campus and also used rumors to answer questions about board results." More from this Member | Report Response

"Awesome school & passionate Dean!" More from this Member | Report Response

"Great school! Even if it is new, their curriculum is top notch as well as their equipment and buildings." More from this Member | Report Response

"Overall it seems like a terrific school. The faculty had all worked at various other medical schools so the fact that UIWSOM is so new did not deter me as much. The dean even has experience starting another successful medical school. Other than the area not being incredibly nice it seems that UIWSOM has a bright future."
