School Info

The UT Medical School at Houston, committed to educating physicians for medical practice, has consistently rated among the top 15 U.S. medical schools in the number of graduates entering the primary care areas of family practice, general pediatrics and general internal medicine. The School has the State`s first family residency program which focuses on the under-served urban population.

Curriculum

Students should acquire a KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING of health and its promotion; of disease and its prevention and management; and, of psychosocial factors that influence a patient's well-being, in order to provide competent and humane medical care to individuals, families, and the larger society. Furthermore, students should be able to use their knowledge and understanding appropriately in the care of patients. Students should have an opportunity to participate in scholarly activities including research. Students should acquire and become proficient in basic clinical SKILLS, such as the ability to obtain a patient's history, to perform a comprehensive physical and mental status examination, to interpret the findings, and to demonstrate competence in the performance of basic technical procedures. Students should appreciate the appropriate use of technologies in assisting in diagnosis and management. Students should acquire and demonstrate ATTITUDES that foster patient-centered care and support the highest standards of the medical profession.

Facilities

The main educational facilities of the UTHealth Medical School are located in the heart of the Texas Medical Center. The nine-story Medical School Building is located on Fannin Street along the METRO lightrail and is connected on the south end to a six-story research building, the Medical School Expansion. The Medical School has a strong presence in the Jesse Jones Library Building and in TMC South Campus buildings, including the South Campus Research Building and the Behavioral and Biomedical Sciences Building.

There is a new type of private drug out in the market. However, this drug is very expenisive. John is not wealthy and therefore can not afford to pay for the medication. About the LizzyM Score

LizzyM, SDN Moderator and medical school admissions committee member, is the inventor of the LizzyM Score. The score allows you to see if you are a competitive applicant at a given school. If your LizzyM Score is far below or above the average, you may not be a good fit. If your score is far below, your application may be screened out due to numerical cutoffs. If it is far above, the school may assume they are your “safety” school and that you won’t attend if they offer an acceptance.
