"Pre-clinical basic sciences are severely lacking in quality and organization. While the curriculum lay out is changing, it is really not content, but execution that is the weakest. Lectures are uneven and the syllabus has frequent typos and internal contradictions; similarly, you will find lectures that state contradictory information. I feel the courses are overall poor quality. The pre-clinical training was not very strong and most students slack off on it because it was not graded. Skills clinics and pre-clinical training are unorganized and we had to rely on facebook to communicate where exactly we should show up and what we should expect to do. Exams are written more to elicit a curve than prepare you for STEP. Pre clinical will be pass fail starting in 2015 so maybe that aspect will improve, but it was extremely frustrating during 2nd year." | Report Response

"Uneven. We have a few very effective lectures who have very well crafted syllabi; however, most (I would say 75%) are ineffective. We have several lectures each block where it is obvious that the presenter did not make the slides or the syllabus so it becomes difficult to get a grasp on what is important clinically and exam-wise. I am unsure about other schools, but I feel that we have a large proportion of non-MDs giving presentations. As a whole, this material is not as effectively presented and will often have no clinical (or STEP) relevance as compared to similarly taught material by clinical faculty. Pharm stands out to me as a course taught almost exclusively by non-MD, non-clinical staff which I had to re-teach myself for STEP and felt unprepared for 3rd year." | Report Response
