What is one of the specific questions they asked you (question 2)?

"asked about an extracurricular activity - picked one to discuss - What qualified you to give advice on entrance essays? (i thought that was a slightly weird question, so i asked for clarification) What advice did you give?" Report Response | I was asked this question too

What is one of the specific questions they asked you (question 3)?

"What other fields were you considering besides optometry? Would you consider academia in addition to optometry? (Heh, no, one degree is enough, considering all the complaints I hear about how tough optometry school is as it is.)" Report Response | I was asked this question too

What was the most difficult question?

How did you prepare for the interview?

"SDN, youtube med-school interviews and searched the internet for interview advice for professionals in general." Report Response

What impressed you positively?

"They were so warm, friendly, and nonjudgmental - very unlike I expected. Basically, much, much much less stressful than anticipated. I was still careful with my responses, but i felt mostly at ease. I think i rambled on one question, but their faces were forgiving. They gave encouragement with their head gestures to clue me into how i was doing and did not seem formidable at all." Report Response

What impressed you negatively?

"nothing bothered me, but maybe a more developed description of how academic support works would have made me feel less anxious. Also there's no gym in SUNY, but its all in one amazing location, so a very minor complaint." Report Response

What did you wish you had known ahead of time?

"i think i was very prepared for this interview. Due to the letter description of interview day and the admission receptionist's version of things ahead of time, I was able to anticipate every detail, down to where they were ordering lunch from. I had a time constraint, and the receptionist was kind enough to schedule the latest appointment so i would only have to be present for 3 hours. One thing though: I didnt know we'd be visiting the cadaver room on the tour; that was interesting/weird." Report Response

What are your general comments?

"The interview flowed like a conversation. I was expecting a cross-examination or interrogation due to comments on this site, but they were approachable and down to earth. At the end of the interview day, the 3 of us interviewees found out that we were in, which supposedly only happens when all interviewees of the day are accepted! also, notice my interview was in February, and i took the oat at the end of December, so there's definitely hope for late applicants despite rolling admission. Also, as far as dress goes, one applicant was dressed very plainly, another was rocking a silk top with her pants suit. In the end, I was happy that my outfit had a few quirks besides the strictly professional dress suit, and I think it was the right decision to go for a balance of interesting yet polished."
