What impressed you positively?

"Brain Institute is a nice new building, but unless you're into research you wouldn't spend much time there. Shands is a great hospital for being in the middle of a podunk north central Fl town. Students we spoke with seemed genuinely happy there. And Roybn (admissions coordinator) has been the best out of all the schools I've been to thus far - she and the admissions office people were extremely open about... everything. Last, I like that the Chair of Admissions plans to keep all the applicants up to date with a monthly email. It's kinda like they're going out of their way to make sure we know that they know we're still out there." Report Response

What impressed you negatively?

"Their grading scale is A-F (but they claim that it's not a competitive atmosphere). " Report Response

What did you wish you had known ahead of time?

"The lunch they serve you is finger sandwiches... and they come with mayo and mustard on them... AND I DON'T LIKE THOSE BLOODY CONDIMENTS!! seriously, why couldn't they just put them on the side?! in any case, if you're like me, I'd recommend bringing some crackers or a granola bar or something... cuz there's so much friggin' mayo on them sandwiches that you're NEVER gonna wipe it all off." Report Response

What are your general comments?

"Overall it's a pleasant day. They definately put their best face forward in an attempt to recruit the best in-state students as well as some top non-Floridians. They also informed us that the class size is expanding, to the low 120s. The interviews I had were both with professors, and they were "traditional" in the sense that they asked questions and I answered. Both asked questions getting to why I want to be a doctor."
